Vamp Broad Axe vs Obsidian Axe

I have found a shop selling a +0 vamp broad axe and another one selling the obsidian axe for over 2,000. I think I will buy the vp axe, but I was wondering if it's worth upgrading to obsidian once I have the money.

Playing as a NaFi of Oka, done Orc, lvl 15.

Vamp broad axe is amazing and Obsidian axe will kill you. Easy choice.

Both are good, but obsidian axe is more fun. If you haven't played with the latter, I suggest using it. In emergencies, you can use a scroll of remove curse to unwield the axe.

Since your weapon would be cursed most of the time, train throwing for ranged attacks.

I don't get what is so cool about obsidian axe. You still can use "never retreat" conduct with vamp axe, can't you?

Sure. But a conduct with a +14 vorpal axe which summons demons is more fun.

Well, I had impression that most players here dislike summons and that it's more fun to play without paying attention to your HP bar

In the meantime, I enchanted the axe to +5. I also have a chainmail that gives me +5 slaying and a +3 ring, so it's going pretty well. Oka gave me a fire axe to use against hydras. I think demons from obsidian aren't boring, because you are going melee anyway, and you don't have to explicitly summon them, so it's a lot of spared keypresses, and you can essentially ignore them while reaping the benefits. I only have experience with obsidian in zigsprint, though, where positioning is not that important.
