Neutral monster AI

So, I use Lugonu's corruption on a level. The monsters are neutral. They mostly (but not completely) ignore me, but seem to wreck all the hostile monsters they can see. They seem to do some really non-neutral things (eg, starcursed masses scream at things, worldbinders summon stuff).

How do neutral monsters behave, really?

Re: Neutral monster AI

I have never cast Discord before, and I've not used needles enough, but do frenzied monsters use the same AI as neutral ones?

Re: Neutral monster AI

I'm not exactly sure, but I do remember that neutral monsters sometimes just want to head in a specific direction, and if you are in their way, they start attacking you. Then, if you get out of their way, they stop and go on their merry way. Possibly unless you attack them back.
If I play online, I do so under the screenname Marenglen.

Re: Neutral monster AI

Interestingly, they also seem to aggressively attack player-allied summons.

Corruption is god-damned fantastic, by the way. OOFs and aliches kind of overpowered it on Zot:5, but even in Vaults:5 it took care of really a massive number of the monsters.

Corruption will also knock out some walls, giving you a shorter path to the Orb on Z:5, Tomb:1&2 sections, etc.

Re: Neutral monster AI

They are hostile to everything except the player character, and will actively fight it, so don't bother with animating or summoning stuff, as it will just die. "Neutral" is different that "peaceful", as in the result of Ely's pacification, these will just seek a way out of the level.
  Code:
 76471 | Zot:5    | Corrupted Zot:5
 76474 | Zot:5    | Killed an orb of fire
 76474 | Zot:5    | Reached skill level 14 in Stealth
 76479 | Zot:5    | Killed an ancient lich
 76482 | Zot:5    | Killed an ancient lich
 76487 | Zot:5    | Killed an orb of fire
 76488 | Zot:5    | Killed an orb of fire
 76489 | Zot:5    | Reached skill level 15 in Stealth
 76492 | Zot:5    | Killed an orb of fire
 76559 | Zot:5    | Noticed an ancient lich
 76559 | Zot:5    | Noticed an orb of fire
76565 | Zot:5    | Gained mutation: You expend magic power (3 MP) to strengthen your wands. [an orb of fire]
 76570 | Zot:5    | Killed an orb of fire
 76572 | Zot:5    | Killed an ancient lich
 76579 | Zot:5    | Reached skill level 16 in Stealth
 76650 | Zot:5    | Got the Orb of Zot

Thanks to the starcursed masses, I actually paralyze-"stabbed" an orb or fire with a great mace here.

Re: Neutral monster AI

Yeah -- I noticed them paralyzing an OOF; alas, there were so many abyss mobs that I couldn't actually get to it to bludgeon it.
