Online playing cost

Hi all,
I need some advice on playing online. I have not been seen much on any of the online servers, because I live in a place where internet comes at a premium. I pay my children's inheritance every month for the privilege of using up 4 GB of traffic (together with the rest of my long-suffering family), and therefore I feel hesitant to spend hours playing DCSS on one of the servers. But maybe my hesitation is completely unfounded. Can anyone here tell me how much data traffic one incurs for going through a 15-rune run, both incoming and outgoing? If this combined figure is somewhat lower than 100 MB, I might consider this once in a while...
Thanks for your help!

If you play through console and use compression, you can expect to use around 10 to 20 KB per typical dungeon level. For maximum efficiency:
  Code:
ssh [server] -C -o CompressionLevel=9
Webtiles uses a lot more, not sure how much.

Ooooh, I'm way too young to play console...
Any idea about the increase of data traffic needed for tiles?

Unfortunately I can't measure that as easily as I can with console. Sorry!

FWIW it's about 3.8 Meg of data for all the resources (the graphics and scripts used to play the game, downloaded once at the beginning) I suspect the rest of the data for actually playing is similar to console.

That's not bad at all. It means that I should show my face more often. Thanks!

I just poked around a bit with Chrome's developer tools, and found that pressing (i) costs a bit over 1KB, as does loading a new floor. Moving a single tile, and revealing the associated new tiles, costs a few hundred bytes.

Your mileage may vary, this was a very small sample size, etc etc.
