[DECj] Should I use this shield?

I just got the +9 shield "Zocvump" {rPois Str+4 Int+2}. Does it make any sense, as a DECj with -2 apt in shields, to train some in order to wear this? Thanks.

getting to 15 shield skill at -2 shield apt. would take a while. Would probably have to clear V:5 and all of depths training just shields. You could easily have it up training in Zot:1-4 I think for the return trip.

The point of a deep is to not get hit and have high magic.

So training sheilds may not be wise. Since after all, as a deep elf, you avoid getting hit as much as possible.

So training something that you will barely use, is not the best allocation of experience.

Better off training spells to escape danger, like blink or Passage of goubria.

If you're seeking 15 rune win and sweeping megazigs, then yes.

Definitely not this early on (character level 11). I might be tempted to save it and try to upgrade to it (from whatever buckler you eventually find) later on, around the 3rd rune roughly, but not this early on. You need your exp for your magic and primary defenses (dodging/fighting). Shields are a secondary defense and should be no higher than around your 5th priority right now
