Basically, a level 27 vehemut gargoyle who cast LCS/Iron shot/Shatter a lot, with 26 int/18 spellcasting at time of death, starved to death. It can happen! Ironically I think the amulet of gourmand amulet they used actually contributed to the death, as it let them eat a lot more and not feel how much food they were actually burning through? I guess that's subjective, but I can see how you could think the amulet means you don't have to worry about hunger and then ignore how much food you're actually eating as well. They did have a staff of energy, but I again blame the amulet for them not thinking they needed it?

There was still permafood in their game, they just weren't carrying it.
