Notice how the tengu manages to swap his bradiche with a longbow, and then shoot me; in the meanwhile I was stabbing a giant, which took 6 auts.
How did it manage to do it so quickly? It's not hasted or anything. Or do monsters take 0 turns to swap weapons?

Monsters don't take any time to swap equipment.

Thanks, yet another thing I didn't know about this game.
So one must always assume stuff like tengu and orc warriors can swap into a ranged weapon and kill you at a moment's notice.

Monsters. We've survived by luring them, by kiting them. But they are the gatekeepers. They are guarding all the downstairs, they are holding all the runes. Which means that sooner or later, someone is going to have to fight them.

I've seen an a Tengu reaver punch through an unnaturally hard wall; men have emptied entire quivers at them and hit nothing but air; yet, their strength, and their speed, are still based in a world that is built on lua. Because of that, they will never be as strong, or as fast, as *you* can be.

Do you believe that my being stronger or faster has anything to do with my muscles in this place? Do you think that's air you're breathing now?
