Velocity card hasted enemies

I haven't played a Nemelex follower since you had to play Dungeon Janitor to get decks, so I'm not sure if this is new, or something I've forgotten, or a bug I should report.

I'm playing Trunk on CAO, and just drew the velocity card from a plain deck of escape. Instead of hasting or swiftnessing myself, it hasted the two enemies next to me. Death is not the escape I had in mind...

  Code:
The bullfrog barely misses you.
You draw a card... It is Velocity. The giant cockroach seems to speed up.
The bullfrog seems to speed up. The bullfrog hits you.
The giant cockroach bites you but does no damage.
_The bullfrog misses you.

If that's intentional, I guess I'm looking for any advice on how to play the newer Nemelex. Thanks!

This happened to me recently as well. I was playing hellcrawl, but I don't think it changed any of Nemelex's mecanics, so this fact shouldn't be relevant.

My feeling is that it's a bug. Certainly the Velocity card description only says that enemies (and allies) may be slowed, not hasted.

Nemelex has other "effective" escapes such as player banishment. Nemelex has had enough of an identity crisis as it is; the god doesn't need to be Xom in disguise.

  Code:
Velocity card

The card depicts an empty, well-worn pair of boots. Sand, ashes, and turf
coat the boots' soles.

Drawing this card can grant great speed or terrible slowness to foes and allies
alike. The beneficial aspects depend on card power.

Working as intended.

Nemelex kicks your ass if you're card effect is low, because the god is intended to be the god of cards and gambles.
Card effect is determined by invocation skill, piety and the "grade" of card - (plain/ornate/legendary).

For OP, Velocity's card effects are-

Level 0: Every allies and foes get hasted OR swifted OR slowed.
Level 1: Allies get hasted OR foes get slowed.
Level 2: Allies get hasted AND foes get slowed.

My Nemelex strategy:

1. Don't waste decks of escape in early game. They are unreliable if your piety/invoc/card grade is low (because of Exile/Velocity).
The main strategy to use them is using stack five to get Elixir/Tomb cards.
Tomb + Elixir combo is one of the best livesavers in this game.

2. Your early panic button would be mainly decks of summoning. You can summon friendly Pan Lord in Lair:1~2. (Pan Lords always generate friendly)

3. Decks of destruction are common but do NOT use them to some enemy that should not be polymorphed. (e.g. Gastronok)
Also don't use them if many enemies are directly near you. (Wild Magic can blow you up)
