Re: Looks more experienced

It's been a while since I've played with Beogh, but under Piety level *** on the Wiki explanation.

Bless your orcish followers - Beogh may bless one of your followers when it kills an enemy or otherwise gains experience. The chance is 1d(Piety) >= 30, or one at random when you kill an enemy (10% chance). The blessing has one of the following effects:
10%: An ordinary orc becomes an orc priest, otherwise 25% chance to add +1 to their weapon's accuracy, 25% chance to add +1 to their weapon's damage, 50% chance to add +1 to their armour's AC.
90%: 50% chance to remove poison, sickness, confusion, rotting, slowing, or exhaustion (if they are so afflicted), otherwise heals 25% of the follower's HP.
Beogh may also improve your followers' equipment and gift weapons, armour, and ammo to those who lack them.

If the orcs are becoming stronger in their class, you'll probably also see their appearance change. Some of your steely-looking warriors may become shiny blue knights and later red warlords, and priests may move from green on into blue.

You can push the (V)iew mode over them to see what weapon and armor they're currently holding in your text readout. Eventually, they will gain stronger items through this.

Re: Looks more experienced

The blessing effect is different from the orcs gaining experience, which is what creates this message. There is an invisible stat called hit dice (HD); this is what is actually increasing when monsters gain experience. When HD increases enough, orcs will grow up into their stronger types: orc to warrior to knight to warlord, priest to high priest and wizard to sorcerer.
