Unwielding disto weapon to get into abyss

Took me xyz tries to finally get into abyss (flail).
I got 7 mutations from contam (1 good, 6 bad) while spending 1686 turns to regain health (2 sources of regen).
Abyss 5: 328 turns to get the rune.

I bet the next time I grab an enchanted weapon which turns out to be a disto weapon it will sent me to abyss the instant I unwield it

IIRC there should be a 25% chance of being Abyssed (I take it you weren't with Lugonu). So you have about a 10% chance of having to unwield 8 times and a 1% chance of having to unwield 16 times...

May I ask what situation you were in where you were powerful enough to grab the abyssal rune, but still unable to just take a portal in the Depths?

I did it for Vow of Courage III banner (get six runes before entering the Depths)

I started to think that I might have to unwield a weapon with higher base damage or that I might haven't read the change log for 0.19

Yes, someone has to take the bad rng-rolls.
Now, after 5 runes I'm still sitting there with slime pits to be done (only area left besides Dephts), no rcorr in the game in the game so far and potion of resistance unknown

The probability of banishment from unwielding is 207/896, or about 23%.

I wonder why don't you just chill on E:3 instead, or the HoB segment of E:2 (just don't clear it before, dammit).

If you find an orc with disto weapon or Louise, leave them alone so they can helpfuly banish you later.

Equipment choices like +0 robe of rElec, boots of flying instead of running, some crappy jewellery, no armor/dodging trained before XL15 (and this was under Chei so double wtf).
