Best place to explore for piety

I gave away all my piety for a trove and it's really starting to hurt, I'm on the last floor of Depths and I pretty much have V5 to do but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea since it's the hardest part of the game and I only have ** piety with nemelex. Should I go elf? Or maybe slime

Elf is most likely safer than slime. I usually do Elf after V:1-4 if I feel like it. Works pretty well.

Playing DD so crypt probably isn't a good choice

I don't, I got nemelex on like D3 and I lived long enough to find vamp so I just kept him

Am I wrong in thinking that piety helps with the damage of certain cards and the amount of summons you get per summon card/reduces the amount of malsummons? Because it feels that way

Yes, piety increase power of cards indeed. Why do you need cards as DD with vampiric weapon? Ok, I was joking mostly. Clearly it is optimal to clear Elf/Crypt now, even if you are already at full piety.

There's infinite piety in the Abyss... If you've got some stealth, it's not too bad.
