Velocity card: monster hasted ?

Situation: 2 elefants (hostile) + me.
Evoked velocity card from a (stacked) deck of escape.
Result: 1 hostile elefant hasted. Noone else.

That's a pretty strange result for a deck of 'escape' and came as a big surprise to me.
I expected the effect (haste/swiftness) only on my char.

Piety: 5 stars of Nemelex Xobeh.
Evo: 9
deck: plain

Is this supposed to happen ?

"power 0: slows, hastes, or swifts either all allies or all enemies. power 1: hastes allies or slows enemies. power 2: hastes allies and slows enemies."

it sounds like the bug was it only hasted one elephant rather than both.
also start using your abilities on those escape decks.

Where does this quote come from ?
I had only the (old) wiki-information: http://crawl.chaosforge.org/Velocity_card

Arrhythmia wrote:also start using your abilities on those escape decks.

My decks of escape are stacked (like the one in my first post).
Is there anything I'm missing ?

whoops misread it. don't use plain decks if you want to escape now i guess.

knowledge from knowledge bots

e: you can also use ?/ to look up cards but i doubt they'll give much useful information

Plain decks of escape have always been terrible. Just throw them in lava.

in my defense, "now" in that sentence is meant to affect "escape", to give a sense of urgency to your desire to escape, rather than to refer to something like "at this point in the development cycle".

the agonies i suffer because of this writing affectation.

Ah, I see. Well the problem is that plain escape decks are just bad, they're bad if you want to escape a situation immediately and they're also useless for anything else because they're just bad.

I have used them before in extended. ID all the plain decks of escape for shaft and skip straight to hell:7 by repeatedly shafting... But that was probably not worth the effort.

LearnDB isn't quite right about power 0 velocity - on the player, it removes slowing (with a 50% chance at power 0, or guaranteed at power > 0) and removes hasting (with a 50% chance at power 0 only). At power 0 it then either hastes, swifts or slows all allies *and* enemies (or should do at least, no idea how it'd only affect one target). The power 1 and 2 sections are correct.

(Relevant code here).
