Must-Keep, Must-Purge Mutations

If we can please set aside for other threads the topic of whether one ought to play mutation roulette, I'd like to ask here which mutations you think are so good that you're willing to put up with most bad mutations to keep them, and which ones are so bad that you're willing to give up most good mutations to get rid of them.

As a guess to get thing rolling, I'd expect that Robust is really the only must-keep, and that Frail and Teleportitis are the only must-purge mutations. But what do I know, that's why I'm asking.

Re: Must-Keep, Must-Purge Mutations

I consider Beserkeritis a must-purge on many characters.

Big AC mutations(black scales, iridescent scales) are always quite attractive to me, as is Wild Magic on a conjuror.

I consider berserkitis worse than teleportitis much of the time.

Re: Must-Keep, Must-Purge Mutations

Must purge: bad eyesight, teleportitis, berzerkitis.

high value keeping: robust, clarity, +AC scales.

Note that if one plays early mutation roulette there is a guarantueed way to not be afflicted: worship Ashenzari. Back in the days She would even prevent bad eyesight from having an effect, but I guess that was too much fun and was removed.

Doesn't this incur the "menopausal" status when removed though?

Like 99% of mammals just reabsorb the endometrium with no problem, there's no biological need for an organism to tear it up and discharge it through the vagina. God, I'm glad I'm an elf and not a human.

Re: Must-Keep, Must-Purge Mutations

Kenstruation comes standard on an unmodified human embryo! Lacking it is the mutation.

More seriously, "Frail" mut makes me extremely nervous and it absolutely must go. I must admit that I kinda like berserkitis on durable melee characters, I just try to play each turn under the assumption that I will go berserk in the following turn. No funning around!

But mutation was required for it to evolve in the first place!

If we had stuck with a nice, logical trilateral symmetry we wouldn't be in this mess.

Re: Must-Keep, Must-Purge Mutations

Often, I find myself keeping the rMut mutation nowadays, even if paired with other negatives, since that's such a hard thing to come by normally.
I usually feel a strong urge to get rid of misshapen, if only because the flavor disturbs me. I'll put up with it if it's not doing much though.

One thing of note is that Berserkitis only triggers in melee. Teleportitis can teleport you at any time. It's tolerable if you use magic/ranged primarily.

Wild magic is so insanely good I'm surprised they haven't removed it yet. Going from 100 to 150 spell power is crazy good and well worth the hit to spell cast chance.

Well, it's not like there's any consistent way to get it.

Its also been nerfed in trunk, only giving 33% spellpower more instead of 50%.
