Am I ready for zot?

http://crawl.berotato.org/crawl/morgue/ ... rson12.txt
Here is my morgue file. Am I ready for the realm of zot? What should I leave in my stash? Which rings should I wear? I have a lot of random stuff that is semi-useful. How long do phantom mirror copies last? Also, do pan lords actually have only 26 MR? I may encounter them on the orb run.

I think the most trouble you will have is the the large draconian packs. Plenty of corrosion and poison.

This is an invisible stabber. Draconians don't see inv, they will not be hard.

The character is good. I suggest you learn Shadow Creatures, that's great in Zot.
Proceed carefully, and when you reach Z:5, stop and ask again.

You don't want to fight anything on the orb run, especially not Pan lords. Just walk away hasted, use fog if necessary. But that is for later, focus on Zot for now.

Re: Am I ready for zot?

I have reached zot:5. In order to proceed, I have to go through one of two 1 tile wide entrances. One has a permanent teleport trap over it, the other has a blade trap. What should I do?

Edit: nvm. I can fly over blade trap.

Really? I thought this was removed several versions ago.
Anyway blade is best choice, I'd say, because at worst you get 76 damage and you can retreat asap, while teleport could land you in a very bad situation. Just remember to consider that source of damage too if you'll need to retreat over it with enemies in LOS
screw it I hate this character I'm gonna go melee Gastronok

Re: Am I ready for zot?

The blade trap did activate, but it missed. Bribe branch is really strong, I got two allied orbs of fire. Orbs of fire are really hard to kill, as I hit one over and over and nothing happened, but then I summoned a bunch of shadow creatures, who whittled it down, then I managed to kill it. Finally, with the help of my two orbs of fire, I cleared zot:5.

Wait a minute. Don't hit monsters who have elec resistance with your elec rapier, because that weapon is total crap without the elec damage. Either use a real weapon (demon something is the minimum) or spells or allies.

Don't have any well enchanted short blades with brands that will damage the orb. Don't have skills in other weapons.

Re: Am I ready for zot?

That is not a problem in this run I guess, it is for the future. A small elec weapon is great, except against rElec monters it's bad.

Did you really clear Z:5? And now?

Re: Am I ready for zot?

Why not? I will now go to do some inventory management at my stash. Then, I will apport the orb to the stairs and run.

Apporting the orb starts the orb run in versions 0.17 and onward. Just fyi.

Re: Am I ready for zot?

Yes, just pick it up and walk. Even better is to haste, pickup, walk. Try not to fight anything. Always haste when you need it (glow is not a problem any more, the game is almost over).

If you want to kill an oof with a short blade a potion of might might (heh) help you do that.

Re: Am I ready for zot?

Yeah, a +9 rapier is definitely strong enough to kill OoF if you buff up. Don't really have to train up other weapons skills, just be careful and use consumables like might/haste(and like you did, use allies if possible).
