Beogh and armour

I want to know what the deal is with worshiping Beogh and his increased Armour skill for wearing orcish gear. Knowledge bots sez:

"Beogh encourages the use of orcish gear by giving additional bonuses for wearing it. With armor, you gain virtual armor skill points based on your piety (+.5 to +2.5) in addition to the virtual armor skill for wearing orcish gear (+2). Weapons are +1 damage bonus (as per magic bonuses) for orcish weapon, then +0 to +6 more based on piety."

Does that mean an orcish leather armour is better to wear than a regular chain mail at one star of piety, etc? Is there an easy calculation?

It's not really worth learning anyway. If you want to go Heavy armour, even for Beoghites, Dragon armour or good randart armour (or good randart dragon armour!) is far above comparable orcish armour.
