Worth leaving Chei?- +10 GDA

Posted this in the artifacts thread, but I'm seriously considering leaving Chei over this one:

I don't quite follow why you'd leave chei (is it the -tele?) but what would your base str be without chei? Probably an awful lot lower than 27. I play chei / wear gda / wear -tele so rarely (for each of those things) that I can't easily evaluate this myself, but at the least I don't think I'd wear GDA on that char without the chei stat boost.

Keep Chei AND the armour. It's great armour, and the +10 int is fantastic on a Chei worshipper but kinda worthless if not because your strength will be too low to sustain it.

It means you'll have to play very, very carefully, but it'll be a learning experience. Ever played a formicid of Chei? It works.

I agree with advil, I suppose. You can probably pretend being a weird Formicid of Chei and I've seen Fo^Chei being described as good/decent wrt other Fo (I'm not sure how shields factor in that equation, though). Chei gives you a weird not-blink in form of that one ability and a weird not-tele in form of that another ability, the one you need a ton of Invo for (sorry, I don't play Chei too often). Ultimately, if you die, you die, if you live, you have a cool character to tell tales of.

I had to read the title twice. Generally, when you find a good GDA/CPA, the question is rather : "Should I leave my God and worship Chei"...

Stay with Chei, use this GDA and get Step from time reliable ASAP (~14 Invo), then you'll be as safe as a Chei-worshipper can be ;)

Keep Chei, drop that armour. You can win in any armour and -tele will hurt more than gda will help. That is, if your aim is to win.

Hmm... That armor wont help much in the late game when everything is smite/tormenting through your armor and you suddenly find you need a cblink scroll to survive next turn. But Step from Time is an ok solution I guess.

Certainly by the time one is doing extended is plausible to have found a better armor than a +10 gda with -tele built in. In Lair:1 I seriously doubt he can find anything as good as it, even with chei. Especially considering a honest comparison is with a +0 leather armor.

Use it, at some point you may find something better (or decently good and not as much as a coffin) to swap. As long as you don't rush into bad situation it's an extremely good item.

Why would this make you leave chei? Dosen't make sense. GDA is one of the best armors you can wear with chei.

GDA with -tele + Chei, however, is pretty awful. I'd take a mail of fire or magic resistance over this armour, or any dragon armour.

On the other hand, taking off the GDA will only take about the same number of turns as moving a square /s

6AC over max enchant FDA at the cost of giving your EV permanent AIDS is not going to make you goddamn invulnerable. Asking about this early game trap armor places you in the vast class of people who have no business putting it on. -Tele is ridiculous and playing it with Chei should be the province of madmen like Bloax.

Well, if this char had a max enchant FDA instead, yeah that might be a better choice. But this char is in +0 leather and it's not like they have a hide and 9 ?EA.

-Tele hurts but if there were ever a character I'd wear this coffin on, it's this one. With some invo, Chei gives kind of passable alternatives.

And when's the next time you're gonna find +10 GDA on D:12 with a character who could even remotely wear it?

Winning crawl isn't particularly impressive, winning the game with chei however is quite the accomplishment.

Your defensive are bad and none of your good spells are castable. I say wear it and train to reduce the EVP then start aiming for freezing cloud.
To all new players: Ignore all strategy guides posted on the wiki, ask questions in the Advice forum, players with lots of posts normally have the best advice.

Right, which is why I called it "early game trap armor" as opposed to "any time in the game trap armor".

This character is not in any trouble. They have Invis, Regen, MR, Ozo's armour, blowgun, and a whip of elec. They have a troll hide they should be wearing and using their first EA on. They will be okay provided they raise their fighting and dodging above TWO. Posters are correct that this might be a fun choice and one you can rarely have the opportunity to make, but it's still a dumb one.

yeah I'm gonna go ahead and take the bold stance that +10 GDA with 27 str is actually better than troll leather, and you're the one giving dumb advice here

OP doesn't even have troll leather, they just have the hide which... really don't wear. ?EA might come soon, or in a long time.

I disagree. In my experience Cheibriados is one of the easier gods to win with. His abilities alone are more than sufficient to make up for the conduct, then on top of that having such an enormous stat boost eases everything you do.

He has a reputation as a difficult god because you need to approach the game differently due to his conduct. Players who habitually flee from fights and lure out stragglers will have serious trouble repeating their honed tactics under a Chei conduct.
