Does Chei stop the haste part of berserk or ban it entirely?

I'm not sure since I haven't tried, not wanting to incur penance. The amulet of rage I currently have on will be highlighted in red when I start worshipping Chei, but from the looks of it if you quaff potions of berserk by accident Chei will simply surpress the haste effect.

Wiki says:
If the item causing haste, berserk, etc. was unidentified, or you were berserked/hasted against your will (moth of wrath, berserk mutation), Cheibriados will block the haste and not punish you for it. The message will say the protection was "just this once," but there is no actual limit on it. Do note that an identified wand of random effects will be punished by Chei if you use it and it produces one of the forbidden effects.

So I think you're not allowed to berserk voluntarily.

There is unhasted berserk. When you berserk under Chei, voluntarily or not, the haste part is suppressed, as you noticed. This is very bad.

You mean worshipping Chei? :)

Berserk under Chei seems to be bad, but considering that Chei's penance after berserking is extremely short, it can still be worthwhile (esp in early game as a last resort) considering HP and damage boost.
