Crossbows and bolts...and arrows too I guess.

Its been a loooong time since I've messed with any kind of archer build.

I currently have a MDHu at level 12, using crossbows, heavy armor. I have just found a crossbow of flame, and have both regular and steel bolts. The steel bolts don't seem to get the flaming damage effect from what I've seen, but their description says they get another +50% damage over other bolts.

So my questions are:
1. Am I correct in thinking that the flaming damage is NOT being applied to the steel bolts?
2. Against enemies who are not weak to fire which type of bolt will do more damage? I'm guessing steel.

Theoretically steel would do more damage. I find it a bit disheartening that it doesn't stack, though.

same here...but I guess the brand and another +50% would be a little much.

Steel bolts also get destroyed on impact only 1/10 as often as regular bolts, so they will last a lot longer. Steel is better than flaming by a long shot, I'd say.
