Armour & ogres

Found two armour manuals in a bailey; is it worth training armour on an ogre with only soft clothes? Can they wear dragons?

And what's the idea behind giving ogres +1AC for tough skin? Why not 0 or like 6?

Re: Armour & ogres

Ogres can wear dragon armour. Hold on to those manuals for when you gets dragon armour.

Species that can wear any robes can wear dragon armour.

Re: Armour & ogres

It will take many levels of armor skill for it to do anything on robes. Hold off until you have a dragon armor and until the cost of raising more important skills is vastly higher then a few levels of armor. Probably this will start to happen after lair.

I assume it's just to make the early game a tad easier.

Well, the way AC works, when you have extremely low AC (as Ogres tend to) every single point counts. There's a massive difference between reducing 1d2 damage from all attacks and reducing 1d3 damage from all attacks, relative to something like 1d12 vs. 1d13, particularly when you have low EV and high HP to begin with; meanwhile, that wouldn't make too much of a difference for a character who might be using plate.

Re: Armour & ogres

See if you can find/make a troll leather armour they can wear those as well. It could be some time depending on where you are now until you find a feasable dragon armour.

Re: Armour & ogres

Ogres have tough skin so that everyone except nagas starts with at least 2 AC, because fuck nagas. By the time that felids were added, the devs had forgotten about this convention, so nobody except me remembers why ogres have tough skin.
