I've got a potential first Octopode winner underway. (Fighter ^Yredelemnul)

I just enslaved Saint Roka. He's got a bardiche of protection and a chain mail. If I'm careful, he can probably roll right through the end with me.

On the other hand, I've got some slamander mystics around. They could haste my bone dragons and profane servitors. If there's anything better than Saint Roka, it's several hasted BDs and PSs, right?

Which should I take?

If you can have several salamanders, why cant you have St Roka and 1 less salamander?

No, I mean living salamanders. Available to enslave.

You only get to have one enslaved soul at a time, so taking one if them would mean letting SR go.

I perfer to enslave things with abilities my army lacks. Delf summoners or higher, troll shamen, Josephine, the like. Saint roka is nice with smite and durability.

Since DElfs were brought up; how do DE Death Mages interact with Yred? (I mean the Lost Soul Summoning).

IMO it doesn't matter, just go with whatever seems more fun/flavourful.
