Tired of SpEn, any suggestion?

Hi all,

I played tons of SpEn and I loved them all but now it's the time to turn page and try something new.

Already tried:
-DEWz <-- powerfull, really... but bit of boring
-MfSk <-- even though I like it I didn't manage to go far (hard to balance)

I'd like to try some nice fight/magic combination. Any suggestion?
Honestly I have to say that I liked some Gargoyle playstyle that I saw online, Naga of Chei also seems fun, I just want to know what do you think

Anyway, in the meantime I'll probably play some other SpEn, I simply cannot resist. Usually I pick Kiku or Ash, could you suggest me any other god (more exotic?) worth to worship with SpEn? What about the new pantheon?

Interesting classes for hybrid play style are e.g. ice elementalists or necromancers. Check MfIE or HONe if you like.

Is Dith good enough for a 15 rune game with a SpEn?

Sp** of Dith is both awesome and a bit troublesome. The doubling of stealth+shadowstep make your tiny spriggan into a killing machine as long as stuff doesnt wake up. If stuff does wake up though Dith helps not so much.

That said, shadowform allows for stealing of even difficult runes with absolute ease, being torment immune+huge damage resistance. Its totally viable to do 15 runes.

As to other gods for SpEn, Nemelex is very good.

I used Nemelex until 0.13 a lot, it's actually really fun but I quit since there is no more the experience card. But it's great I agree, what about Fedrash?

Try GrEE. Low HP but you get AC and GDR that doesn't hurt your spellcasting. Your starting book can take you a long way, especially LRD.

The best hybrid background is probably IE. Pick some strong species that is not horrible at ice magic.

Also, try berserker. Yeah, technically you can't use magic, but you have god powers that let you play a melee / self-buff / summoner hybrid that is not unlike IE. Species: Mi is the best, followed by HO.

Another thing: don't listen to people who recommend Chei

Chei is the best god for hybrid.

Yeah, I didn't see things like TrWz or TrWr of Chei being suggested, but those are both really good combos that end up being a lot of fun. Chei is about as far as it gets from playing SpEn, so it's almost like playing another game entirely.

Melee most of the time with support spells + tornado for Extended:

Gargoyle of Okawaru.
Get the basic fighting skills ready and stop there (like Mace+Flails to mindelay).
Then go for tornado (with silence on the way) + abjuration.
Switch to ZIN for Extended, he helps a lot with casting (Vital.)

Another way berserkers can get magic is that when acquiring a "staff" from a scroll, Trog makes sure you get a rod.

Gozag could be a more exotic god to worship as SpEN. VpMo/(no stealth training) can be a fun combo. just keep feeding to keep the crazy regen going. oka/ mak] are good god choices for this. You could take kiku to get a reliable blood supply, but that really isn't necessary in a 3 rune game. You may have to retreat to get blood if you get spider though. Don't be affraid to learn some transmutations if you find them, you will find plenty of blood(except in spider).

Thanks all of you I finally managed to quit SpEn.

I am trying MfIE but I have to admit that it's quite complex to balance fight/magic/dodging.

Anyway, GrEE it's amazing. I tried worshipping Ash and it's a very fun game, which other god could I follow with him? Oka and then switch?
Which stat to enhance?
How far with dodging?

Vehumet is OK on GrEE. The extra range is nice on earth spells.

A type of hybrid I really love (or maybe more of a pseudo-hybrid) is a heavy armour warrior of Makhleb (or Qaz), so you can be an awesome weapon master while still being able to rain down elemental destruction on your foes (and summon minions!). Hill Orcs work great for that, but I personally like Demonspawns better. Very easy to balance, just train your weapon skill to min-delay, then train Fighting/Armour/Invocation as high as you can.
