Currently, a scroll of vulnerability is a fairly rare item, which if identified by reading, imposes a MR- that you probably wait out with a "5", and then you never read one again. It might as well be a type of random uselessness for all the effect it has. Do something...

* Kill it entirely?

* Make the MR- permanent, or permanent until dispelled with a potion of cancellation?

* Make it a sort of nifty tactic tradeoff scroll where you read it and suffer MR-, but your spells become several #s more potent as long as it lasts?

* Make it so that when you look at it on the ground, it looks like some other scroll chosen at random, like identify or something, and the second you pick it up it shifts to reveal its true form and you're hit with the MR- right then and there?

I don't care which... right now it's a useless feature and I think any of these would make it more interesting.

Edit: OK, it sounds like some folks think this thing is useful as it is, so I'll scrap this idea.

Do you realize that it halves the MR of everything in LOS? It is highly situational, but occasionally very useful.

It does this already, you just have to be casting a hex.

If you're using hexes or wands, this scroll is your friend.

Back when TRJ didn't spill jellies on polymorph, a funny strategy for defeating it was reading one of these and blasting it 2-3 times with a wand of polymorph (at 18 Evo) to transform it into a titan or something. I think one person even used Step From Time and had TRJ kill itself on the slime walls.

You can still do it nowadays but TRJ now spills jellies you have to kill on polymorph.

Among other things, confusion makes his shield useless.

Jeez tho... even with the scroll it took 8 attempts. I think I would have read a scroll of teleport instead and tried again while he was at the edge of LoS or something.
