Sprint Tips?

Anyone else play Sprint?

I've won Sonja, Menkaure, 10 Runes, and Fedhas using HEWz of Veh and Line using TrFi of Qaz. I'm working on Zig and Pits now. Anyone have any advice, suggestions, tips they want to share for those or any other Sprint map?

Re: Sprint Tips?

zig: chei is auto-win, qazlal probably is too, jiyva is also fun for constant full heals and 500 messages after every action
pits: no-one plays this
line: dumb and not worth it
meat: easiest win is probably to scum Ds for nightstalker and start as Wr for the scroll; there are rings of see invisible on the edges of the map

Re: Sprint Tips?

Qazlal works well for both of those maps.

A fun Pit sprint strategy you can try is worshipping fedhas, setting up a field of oklobs in the middle of the map, and luring things over there.

Same combo is good for linesprint as well, which is easy until you get to the extented portion

Re: Sprint Tips?

Zigsprint I've won using shield of the gong, GDA, and evocables, with makhleb. It is an extremely fun playstyle. Linesprint makhleb melee is good, I found linesprint to be entertaining personally (though I will warn you, the orb run in linesprint is incredibly painfully tedious).

Also, if you want to see what people have done, it is possible to query sequell about sprint games and look at logs like you would for regular games, it is just a little fiddly about map names. I think the best way to do it is to use mapdesc rather than just map, so something like '!lg * sprint mapdesc=~Ziggurat' gets the last zigsprint game, '!hs * sprint mapdesc=~Ziggurat -log' gets the highest-scoring zigsprint log (which is this game by rast, no idea if that's doable any more with nemelex changes). Etc.

Edit: also, `!lg * won sprint mapdesc=~Ziggurat s=char,god ?: n>20`

gets you:
  Code:
12:36 OCTOTROG: 370 games for * (won sprint mapdesc=~Ziggurat): 50x DDFi (50x Makhleb), 49x MiFi (25x Makhleb, 24x Cheibriados), 40x NaFi (40x Cheibriados), 39x FoFi (39x Qazlal), 38x OpFE (38x Vehumet), 31x HOFi (31x Qazlal), 30x SpAs (30x Dithmenos), 26x DEFE (26x Vehumet), 25x OpAs (25x Dithmenos), 21x DDAr (21x Makhleb), 21x GrFi (21x Qazlal)

Which seems pretty consistent with what people have said so far. Note that Op is so viable in zigsprint specifically because of super easy access to rings. Wouldn't have guessed dith, though.

Re: Sprint Tips?

Thanks for the tips. Qaz gets me far in Zig (20-24), but I'm not seeing Chei so much. But then again, I hate Chei, so maybe I'm not using him right. What's the approach here?

Re: Sprint Tips?

Zig sprint is the easies of them all. Choose a high invo apt race like Ds or HO (HO is probably slightly easier), worship Qazlal, get really good defenses, and max invo first, and nuke everything with disaster area. The woship Qaz/max invo strat works well enough that I was able to beat zig sprint as FeMo.

I achieved greatplayer in less than a year.

What happens in zigsprint 25-27 that makes Qaz stop working for you?
