If you're playing a transmuter and you find an early helm and boots what do you do? Is losing the 1 AC worth having beastly appendage usable. If you keep one slot open which one is a better choice?

If you keep 1 slot open you want to wear the boots. You should try to be getting spider form pretty quick if you are a typical transputer, in which case I would wear the helm and boots.

Supposedly*, horns are better than talons, so until you are using some other tmut spells or have some slaying or decent unarmed, I'd wear the boots and not the helmet (doing so will force horns from beastly appendage).

* I read this on the wiki and haven't tried to verify so ymmv.

I wish talons had a better effect than weak damage so they were better differentiated. Birds have a strong enough grip that constriction makes sense, but that doesn't need to be overused.

In trunk the special effects of horns and hooves (ministun and AC piercing) were removed so if talons still cause bleeding they're probably better. Probably.

I don't think talons have ever caused bleeding - they didn't when the headbutt stun was added, and they don't do now, at least.

Huh. I thought they did at least at level 3, I mean the description pretty much says "you have claws for feet".

From that commit, it sounds like only the offhand claw causes bleeding? Does a troll with a shield not cause bleeding? I suppose a lot could have changed since 2010.
