Best place to generate a gold dragon

Well... I had cleared vault and depths out before elf and I find a treasure trove there that wants a +2 GDA. I figured Zot would do it for me, but not only two corpses dropped and of those, no hides!!! I've already got the abyssal rune, but I figure I can wander around there for an eternity until a gold dragon appears? And then hope it drops a corpse? And then hope that drops a hide?? I've also burned an ?acq on armour, since this character has everything and I could care less...

Maybe I should just forget about that damn trove already...

I've cleared all the areas with treasure troves now, and am currently on zig14.

I would forget about it, farming is not fun especially when it is done for potentially useless trove.
Butcher all dragons next time to get at least one hide of every type.

Probably zigs are the best place to get a hide indeed, just don't dive deeper than you would without the trove.

Edit. Is it possible that Zigs are special-cased and it's impossible to get a hide there? I remember something like that with Kiku's corpse delivery.

I cant pick up the orb until I have seen everything. Pan takes fucking forever, man.

I think you should scumming Zot, if you will waite long enough, you will get GD.

Agree with GlassGo: specifically, spend 15k turns on each floor of zot, killing anything that spawns. After 15k turns nothing else should spawn, if I recall correctly. If you still don't have it, you'd have to do zigs in pan.

Before you spend a million turns scumming for a gold dragon, do a search to see if there is any hides/armours in shops.

Thanks. I did the search first of course before posting this thread. One dragon armour/hide of every type but gold, of course of course. I also killed a few in two different zigs, no corpses yet. I guess I'll go squat Zot for a while (I had tried that for a while but got bored), at least I have a use for my noise scrolls now.

My curiousity is really getting the better of me here.

You don't get scrolls of acquirement in troves; at least, not in the scroll trove I visited... where it would have made sense.

This is so wrong it's impressive. Scroll troves can give acquirement. In fact, any trove that can generate any scrolls at all can give acquirement.
