Tukima's Dance 0.16.1

I have a SpEn who can cast this hungerless and is about to enter Orc. This is my first character to find its book, and I've not used it much this game since I was most recently in Lair. I'd like to ask for some tactical advice. The problem I had with it as I descended to find Orc was that the weapons seemed slow, I'd disarm the monster and then it would continue towards me leaving the weapon behind. Even when I waited until the monster was close and then retreated, it seemed like it left the weapon behind. I appreciate the disarming, but how can I get the weapon to actually beat on its former owner? I do have animate skeleton, and I could retreat back through these so that the monster couldn't follow, but I'm somewhat leery of accumulating big packs of skeletons in Orc that will get in the way of Confusing priests and wizards.

Re: Tukima's Dance 0.16.1

Tukima's is junk in 0.16. Just enslave things instead. Tukima's is only effective if you're playing trunk.

How is it different in trunk?

Re: Tukima's Dance 0.16.1

It has a very noticeable power multiplier, a la agony, which make it works on most target you would use it. I don't think there have been other changes.

But enslavement is certainly better in virtually any circumstance, use it as long it exists.
screw it I hate this character I'm gonna go melee Gastronok

Ahh, I see. Turkima is junk in 0.16 because enslavement exists.

Re: Tukima's Dance 0.16.1

Exactly. In trunk the En starter book no longer contains Enslavement (which is now only found on wands) and contains Tukima's instead.

As stated, its quite effective in its trunk format, but sucked prior to that im afraid. Its not just that its inferior to Enslave (which it is), but thats its spellpower is lacking and its just not gonna ward enough of your targets.

Re: Tukima's Dance 0.16.1

In my latest 16.1 win I wondered why Tukima's was so weak. In comparison Confuse and Tukima had the same chance to proc. But why would I even try to disarm something if I could confuse and one-shot-stab it instead? I hope in trunk Tukima's buffed considerably.

Re: Tukima's Dance 0.16.1

I used intensively with a couple of my last chars (which weren't hexers or stabber!) , with 10ish hexes and 18ish int I had good chance even against late game foes like foo giant or tengu reaver (50/60ish+).
Depending on type and brand dancing weapons deal good or high damage. Plus, if they get between you and enemies are extremely tanky, so overall it's a very good spell for most char
