Can anything in your current game have an effect on what you get when you use scrolls of brand weapon? According to the wiki, gods will prevent you from getting brands they disapprove of, but it's the wiki so...

Yes, gods won't let you get brands they hate. Also, the brand you get is never the original brand, so that influences the result slightly.

Of course, most hated brands are also pretty good brands (drain, vampiric, flaming, speed) so I'd call that a negative influence, if anything.

Whereas, I think all the lower-tier brands aren't hated by anyone (protection, venom, vorpal)
