rebranding question

So I found two demon whips on a demonspawn, and had very few ID scrolls all game. To try to reduce some inventory load, I auto read a scroll and it was t rebrand.

One of the whips is+6 flaming, and the other is+0 draining. Assuming I will findmore EW scrolls, which brand is better on Dwhip? Which whip shouldI rebrand?

Brand an eveningstar if possible. Rebrand the +6 if not.

Flaming is alright, I would probably use it.

I would use and enchant the +6 demon whip and not rebrand it (you have about a 17% chance of getting something that is actually better, and about a 24% chance of something definitely worse)
Eveningstar is not really much better than demon whip, and if you have slaying or aux attacks it can actually be worse. The weapon that's already +6 is almost certainly better.

Ended up using it on the draining whip and got venom. As it was, I had two scrolls, venom was rebranded into freezing. So I have a flaming and freezing now.

That's a nice pair. Freezing is of slightly more utility (slows most of lair's critters and there are more endgame monsters that are vulnerable to ice but have +rF) but the flaming is almost as good and has a better bonus already, so I would focus on getting that to +8 or +9 before you toss any extra onto the freezing whip.

Now if you are real lucky, you will find an angel with a holy scourge and you are pretty much in business.

I wouldn't be able to use the scourge though, demonspawn character. However I think I got the augmentation bonus that grants slaying at high HP
