Large Rocks

Another mostly-Ogre-related question: What algorithm does the game use for figuring out whether a Large Rock will shatter? Is it the same as for calculating mulch rates for other missiles?

Re: Large Rocks

Assuming the entry on the knowledge bot is correct:

# The base chance of breakage is 1/X. X is: 1 for flame or frost brands. 3 for curare, darts. 4 for stones, arrows, bolts. 6 for non-curare needles. 10 for javelins. 25 for large rocks. Throwing nets only take damage when struggled against and are destroyed at -8. Other thrown things such as hand axes aren't technically missiles, and won't break.
# Enchanted projectiles get an extra shot at avoiding destruction: ench / (3+ench) chance of survival.

Flame and frost ammo no longer automulches, otherwise I think the rest of the entry is correct.

Re: Large Rocks

I think that might be the base algorithm, but I'm almost certain that enchanted missiles are more resilient to mulchage. Also steel branded items have a much lower mulch rate. Anyone want to confirm?

Re: Large Rocks

steel is 10 times more resilient
flame/forst 2 times less resilient
reaping 4 times less resilient

Enchanted projectiles get an extra shot at avoiding destruction: plus / (3 + plus) chance of survival.

Does reaping still even exist? I thought it was removed.

Re: Large Rocks

I think we just stopped generating it. The code hasn't been cleaned off of it!

Re: Large Rocks

Good. Reaping was an intriguing idea but it didn't really work out.

Now, what I'd like to find are some +8 LARGE STEEL ROCKS OF PENETRATION! For the muggle equivalent of crystal spear (and then some)!

Re: Large Rocks

Somehow, "Rocks of Penetration" sounds wrong. Maybe they should be Crushing, like blunt weapons.

Re: Large Rocks

Large rocks of returning would be hilarious.

And steel. Steel rocks. Of returning. I'm going to go home, attach some bungee straps to a bowling ball and practice. :o

Actually, Chuck (the Sprint unique) always has a large rock of returning - yet another reason to use a troll.

Yeah, but is it a steel rock?

I would love to see this in my inventory:
c) 2 large steel rocks of returning penetration

Oh dear, what have I done to your inner 12 year old now...
