I'm looking at a Vehumet altar that's surrounded by trees and only a escape hatch. It's the only altar I've found (altar wasn't in the temple) and I really want to go with Vehumet. How do I get to this altar?

Re: Vehumet altar ?

Try burning down a tree with a fire wand or spell.

(Yes, I agree that is an awful altar set up since you are hosed if you don't happen to have either.)

I had the same situation. I tried reading unidentified scrolls next to it in hopes of blinking in (and using the escape hatch to get out) but didn't find one prior to the temple.

Wands of lightning will also work. A surprising number of fire attacks won't set the trees ablaze, though.

Blink scrolls won't work. Distinigrate or fireball works. I'm assuming that fire does as well. MAYBE flame? Casting blink works, I think.

I just had that exact same situation with my Mummy Earth Ele. I got in (way later than I should have) with a fireball wand.

Vehumet altars tend to come with some barriers... I've come across ones with flames on it, guarded by some statue that prompted auto exclusion, surrounded by deep water, etc... Does he not want to get new followers? :)

He wants his followers to cleverly make use of spellcraft.

That doesn't sound like him, really. I'd imagine he'd prefer his followers to just use spellcraft to blow shit up.

Blowing up those trees sounds like blowing shit up to me.

Re: Vehumet altar ?

I had two unidentified wands, and luckily one was a wand of fireball, which fit the bill. I know I've tried blinking into that altar before but the trees are considered 'walls' when you try that. LRD didn't work either, unfortunately. Just glad I had some wands with me.

An axe should do the trick... (but doesn't)

Yah, and shouldn't felids be able to climb the trees? Though, they might need a fireman to get back down.
