Ok, I have another dilemma related to bats and skills: Should I train stealth so I can try to ninja a rune or two? Or is that too risky? I'm currently in the swamp and have about 10 stealth.

if your goal is to ninja stuff and not kill stuff, then stealth all the way

Though I do think Ninja-ing and stealth can be important...I wouldn't recommend training it too much. Mostly because stealthing through things offers 0 XP, no Piety (you need to killdudes to keep your Makhleb Piety up there) and no Healing (once you hit Bloodless, you stop Regening XP).
