How much STR for plate?

Been wearing plate armor but I realized I only have 18 strength. Is that enough to wear plate?

Re: How much STR for plate?

There's not really a magic number for armor anymore. A decent rule of thumb is 'try to have at least as much Str as the armor's encumbrance,' but that's only a general guideline.

According to Jiyva, the answer is "all of it". Well, until very recently at least.

Does 0.13 lack "magic numbers"? Or is this trunk? I thought 0.13 still had it.

Re: How much STR for plate?

If it says "encumbrance rating" when you examine your armour there is no magic number for it.

To answer the OP, Str decreases the penalties armour gives you. It's probably not worrying too much over, since your main concerns with body armour should be your defenses and how it affects your spellcasting.

So if you're wearing Leather Armor, a ring of Str could improve a conjurer's casting success rate?

If their strength is low enough, yes. Small species also get increased encumbrance penalties.

In actual reality (i.e. considering characters that actually exist and items that actually exist), no. In theory, probably.
