Slings?

If you plan on using crossbows as an endgame weapon, is it worth investing points in slings to survive until you obtain a good crossbow?

Or is it better to just pick up a stack of runed darts and develop something else like spellcasting/dodging/fighting/etc?

I'm determined to get a demonspawn skald off the ground!

Slings work pretty well untrained. As a skald you can buff your sling too. Bullets work better than stones for non-jellies.

That's what I'm working with now. Picked up some bullets for ammo, buffing the sling untrained until I find good gear.

So far so good... just gotta learn to lay off the tab button when boredom sets in.

Re: Slings?

You could also train slings to 5 or something, to make your sling a bit more reliable.

Re: Slings?

If you are going Oka use Heroism liberally for +5 to your combat skills (including slings).

A few points in slings early game is a great investment which will give you solid ranged killing potential.

DsSk have to be focused on how they spend their experience, early game lvl one or two in slings, slowly raised up to three or five at most.
