Staff question

Does my skill in evokation effect the damage done with my staff of death, or do I just need 1 level of evokation?

Enhancer staves (fire, cold, air, earth, death) have (2*evoc + magic skill)/30 chance of getting random2(1.25*(magic skill + evoc/2)) extra damage that ignores AC (except earth), but checks the appropriate resistance. Air also needs to pass a (damage dealt + air + 1)/20 chance, and death a (necro + 1)/8 chance.

So yes, evocations have an effect on damage, just less than more necromancy.

For what it's worth, a staff of death is worse than a pain weapon and worse than any of the four elemental staves.

Staff of death is arguably better than a pain weapon ... it scales better with more necro but you need some evo to make it activate on every hit.

It is also imo the best of the elemental staves for 3 runes.
