Negative EV? WTF?

I didn't know you could have negative EV. My MDCK found a gold dragon armour and a large shield, put them on and suddenly had -8 EV. It seems like everything is hitting me (unless my shield blocks it), but nothing does much damage.

By now, from training armour and finding a +3 EV ring I'm only at -2 EV though

I've gotten to -2 before and I think one character got a -3 once too! I always took off the heavy armor then, because I really don't think the enemies need more help with hitting me.

I think negative EV (and negative AC) are just the same as zero EV/AC.

There's no point in bothering with the EV ring if you're still at negative EV. Minus infinity EV functions the same as 0 EV for all purposes except raising it to positive numbers again.

To evade, you have roll a die with a number of sides equal to your EV, and if your roll beats your attacker's hit roll you nullify all damage. Attackers don't get negative hit rolls, at least not in any cases that are actually relevant.
