[CIP] how 2 play spelldude

Ive killed about 5 deep elf conjurers in dungeons and I have very little experience with using spells in general, it would be nice for general tips as well as looking at this early dump to see if I'm doing things right.

So that means i should also not go dith right? because I have been contemplating going dith for a few minutes now at the alter, also I train armour to see If I would gain any AC for the first few levels, I thought the cost wouldnt hurt to try out

You get one AC for every {total base armour of all armour pieces you are wearing} / 22 skill level in Armour.
With robe (base armour 2) and cloak (base armour 1) you get (2+1)/22 AC per skill level in Armour, that means you need Armour 7.4 to get a single AC, that's not efficient training of course.

Not with reflection. rF+/rC+/AC+3 can be useful depending on your resists.

I would say even a plain buckler is worthwhile, once you're past the earlygame. Very cheap, extra defenses, can be used with enhancer stave.

The character looks okay. Bucklers are good. Very cheap source of defense. Only need 4 shields to remove all penalties. You should definitely use it.

Going for lightning bolt rather than battlesphere is major mistake, agree. Much worse is not getting repel missiles though.

If you're going to play dith-caster, don't train stealth. It won't give you anything at low levels. Dithmengos gives much, much bigger stealth improvement over piety gain. That is the point, to save points and be stealthy without training it.

What is specifically troubling you in Lair:6? You have fulminant prism, mystic blast, battlesphere and lighting bolt, plus sif mufa.
In other words, very mp-efficient way to deal high AoE damage, deal high damage both to low and high EV target, and the safest way to channel mp in the game.

You shouldn't have big problem to clear that level, if you move between the 3 different staircases.
However, if for some reasons it is actually too dangerous - e.g. a deadly unique - then clearing Orc or D is a very sensible advice.

High enemy density and all 3 stairs spawned next to each other, 2 stairs literally next to a bunch of death yaks and the other very close next to elephants, I have just been popping in one and blasting or taking one or two up with me and killing them there. I did this for an hour and then gave it a rest.

Lightning bolt and airstrike are actually still amazing, just not worth learning before rmsl and swiftness.

Yes it is. There is also a guaranteed anaconda(!) in the temple, the killing of which is what causes some of the statues to turn into dire elephants.

Should I go elf, never been in elf before but maybe there are some benefits for a caster in there since I only play melee dudes

Don't go to Elf until you have 2 runes and have done at least Vaults:1 - 4, possibly some Depths as well. Top-tier elves are a deadly bunch.

Also, Lair:8 does not have sick loot so don't worry about that.

Doing Elf early is a fun stuff, but very rippy, if you don't have reflect+buckler max ench. Otherwise, elfs tend to do sudoku, when trying to hit you. Which is both amusing and fun to watch. My strat to deal with them.
Beware of random abyss trips tho, if your MR is low.

Well dex +6 isn't bad at this point of the game, depending on your base Dex and dodging is like +3ish ev, and I doubt you have something better than that

Not to contradict Duvessa too much; but stealth is extremely important on casters. It means if you make a fuckton of noise with your fireball, etc. the enemies that show up after to investigate are less likely to notice you. This can save your life if you have a hard encounter and run out of mana thus have nothing to use against the things that come because of the noise.

Well what I mean is that that's the only thing I got haha, it's a good ring but lair 6 has given me way better stuff in more quality, especially when that's one of the hardest endings

Stealth is nice but you should never rely on it. I mean it should never be extremely important.
