Would Trog be better than Oka for somebody aiming to go extended? Which god has worse wrath? Which god would help me past postlair game? I tend to die soon after Lair, maybe sometimes I get a rune, but Vaults/Depths are an uncommon sight.

If you haven't gotten a win yet, then just go for 3 runes. I am not a particularly good player, but on my 15 rune mifi, I went with TSO from the start. Both Oka and Trog wrath seem nasty. Wrath occurs during/after battles, so it will often hit you at low health.

Ok, I think I'll try TSO first. Should be relatively easy to get a small amount of piety until undead show up in greater quantities. (BTW, I have gotten one win. Offline, though.)

Trog wrath is managable, I've heard bad things about oka wrath after the changes.

Re: Online MiFi aiming to go extended: advice/spectation wel

I've found using Oka for the 3 rune section, then changing to tso, and doing crypt to build piety/burn through Oka wrath works pretty well. If you have the blink spell castable Oka wrath is typically quite manageable, although you might have to teleport away from time to time. It's still dangerous, of course, but then so is using TSO for your god through the 3 rune game.

One way or the other, I think TSO offers the easiest possible extended game. Killing almost anything in extended will heal you with TSO, and getting to apply the holy wrath brand to your favorite weapon is also great. Plus his active skills aren't useless either.

Well, Makhleb with Necromutation is easier IMHO but it is much harder to achieve. Definitely not with Mi.

Re: Online MiFi aiming to go extended: advice/spectation wel

Yes, Oka/Trog -> TSO is best, I think. Oka/Trog wrath is similar: Trog's summons are berserk, which is scary, but he also has less harmful wrath options (fire burst, exhaustion/pass out, etc); Oka is straight-up 6 or so summons everytime, with some having ranged abilities, titans being the worst. Blink is good against both, but running works better against Oka's non-berserked dudes.

My favorite strategy (don't do it---I'm dumb) is to get the Abyss rune, then switch to TSO, build piety in Crypt or the Vestibule, then farm Abyss:1 to wait out wrath. If you stay in the winding terrain instead of in the open, you can often position yourself well against summons (again, Blink helps), and teleport/stairs/portals/Abyss shifts make the summons disappear forever. (Not quite: you can run into them again in Abyss with low probability, but Trog's dudes won't be berserk anymore!)

My other related strategy (again, don't do it---I'm dumb) is to go Zin after having TSO bless a weapon if I have rN+++ without TSO, for the panic button abilities (great) and mutation resistance (I'm dumb). TSO's healing is great, though. For either, train as much Invocations as you can. (Recite is particularly crazy with high Invo, but Cleansing Flame is great too, especially when surrounded and needing HP, and TSO summons are strong.)

What else? Blessing a ranged weapon is amazing if you can stand actually using it regularly. (This is free if the the rest of the game has already given you your top weapon of holy wrath.)

Now go splat some minotaurs!

It's not dumb to go Zin after TSO, getting a holy weapon is nice and it's a trivial swap since you don't get wrath and keep a bunch of piety(and you can just donate a bunch of money). Zin has great active abilities, if you train invo and remember to use them.

Zin is amazing for extended. He has the single best defensive ability in the game what else can you wish for? And recite is absolutely insane at 27 invo. I usually pick Zin over TSO. Or I use TSO for holy weapon and then switch.

I said dumb there because avoiding malmutations is part of my motivation for going Zin, which is frowned upon around here.

it shouldn't be tbh

malmutate is a pain and it's nice to nullify it
