Ring mail is too heavy? I didn't find anything else.
yet, and you've spread your skills even thinner than the last time, with a bunch of xp in short blades and summoning which aren't doing much for you and you even trained 5 skills that do absolutely nothing for the character (stealth, tmut, fire, air, poison).
My + 9 short sword of piercing was working pretty well and I didn't have any other weapons even close to that good. I figured it was worth getting to mindelay.
And since my earth magic wasn't doing the trick, I wanted to get Ogleb's and Ignite Poison for orc, where it worked really, really well - and since I got spider and shoals I figured it would have good utility until Zot. I guess this changed in trunk, but Ogleb's is amazingly good for ghouls and mummies. I trained stealth up to +++ because I had a decent aptitude and short blades. (Ok, that was probably a mistake. But it was that or .6 of a rank in earth magic or fighting.)
Does your conduct allow using a good melee weapon? Because it sounds like you'd find it easier to go kiku and pain brand something.
I had a good weapon! A + 9 artifact short sword is a fine weapon for a caster still in the dungeon! I like Kiku A LOT(Corpse Drop + Corpse Rot is the new blowgun) but I'm wary of getting too caster involved because of my negative mana. Although, okay, exploding skeleton bombs with LRD would be fun.
My good God list is Kiku, Mahkleb, Luogno and qazal.
Ghouls can't become full. The way rotting works is that the speed doubles for every visible hunger level below satiated, so it's twice as fast at hungry, four times as fast at very hungry, etc. Because there are so many chunks in the game it's rare to have more than about 3 points of rot except in certain branches where there are few corpses.
That sucks. But you still do rot all the time. This isn't a huge deal later in the game, but earlier on it's not rare for me to be 4-6 hit points down on a tough level. This isn't a problem for fighters but when I'm killng stuff at range it can be hard to get to corpses! I've actually had pretty good luck moving up through the dungeon and looking for new spawns to kill, though.
Using a weapon is probably better than UC for GhEE, it certainly is if you go kiku who is the best available god anyway.
Yeah, I was surprised how much UC sucked. Claws do not make up for terrible, terrible, terrible Dex.
