Is the scorpion vault with the singing sword an homage?

I tend to find an early scorpion vault containing a pile of weapons, at the bottom of which is the Singing Sword.

Is this just a vault someone built, or is it based on something in some other media? It seems so deliberate, yet random, that it feels like it should be "from" something.

I found that vault in one of my first games.

It had me thinking that funny vaults like these were the norm, so I kept expecting nifty randarts every other game but I didn't see it again for a long time.

It appears to be a destroyed version of the crazy yiuf vault, you can even find a hammer in there. Maybe he crafted the singing sword? Maybe the singing sword made the place collapse with its absurdly loud noise? But thats just my silly theory.

By the way (if this is old_forge, I hope I'm remembering the name right), it can also have an eveningstar or executioner's axe, both with negative enchantment, it's not specifically a singing sword vault.

Seen the vault a few times, too. Can't say it rings any bells with anything I know...

Yeah, it's a pile of weapons, strangely semi-worthy. I was just wondering if this was a themed vault based on some sort of legend of the singing sword, or simply a nice, unique vault. I like the design of it, I like the way there just happens to be a pile of weapons, and it's slightly challenging (oh no, scorpions!) when you encounter it at the level it appears, and the reward is somewhat worth it depending on the build.
