What is 'web sense'?

In a GDD thread, crate mentioned something about 'web sense' as it pertains to web traps. What is this? I've played spider fairly recently and have no idea...

Re: What is 'web sense'?

Spiders being able to find you when you stand in a web (as opposed to being alerted by noise or your presence in their LoS). From learndb:
  Code:
web sense
Creatures with this flag (most spiders and Arachne) are alerted when something is caught in a web within 10 squares.

Re: What is 'web sense'?

Spiders are attracted to things caught in webs, it's sort of like noise, but spider-and-web specific

Re: What is 'web sense'?

In this case, does "web-sense" pass on to non-spider creatures? For example; one of my better runs was interrupted by Jorgrun (hope I spelled that right) blasting through a wall the turn after I stepped in a web. The reason I ask is because Arachne was in the same room as Jorgrun, and, considering my character's extremely high stealth (KoAs, btw), would Arachne have alerted Jorgrun of my presence? Is this just a conspiracy? Am I completely insane? Now I need a glass of milk.

I think Jorgrun has earth-sense.

Damn, that'd make an interesting Earth spell.

Re: What is 'web sense'?

Well, the wiki doesn't give anything about Jorgrun having earth sense, but then again, its the wiki.

There's no such thing, XuaXua just made that up. Possibly as a joke.

Re: What is 'web sense'?

I remember people being harsh on web-sense, as it isn't really communicated to the player, but if the range is only 10 tiles, that doesn't seem that bad. That's only two more than LOS (although I don't know if the 10 spaces respects walls or not). If you were a stealthy character and fell into a web while there was a spider or two in sight, you might even eventually realize what's happening. I haven't noticed it because I tend to play very noisy characters who like to smash things, but that's more my failing than the game.

Should be called "spider sense," imo.

Re: What is 'web sense'?

Ah, so it's pretty much like in real life. One time I bumped a spiderweb in the basement and all the spiders in the house came and bit me.
