Uses for the wand of polymorph other

Saw this question about handling jellies in the Questions that don't need their own thread thread, but this needs to be expanded upon.

What are excellent targets for the wand of transmutation?

Here is my list:
Electric Eels
Jellies
Oklobs

Those nasty bloody wasps, depending on my resistances and the range.

Have you actually tried it? Titanic slime creatures are HD11. I did some tests and here is what I got from polymorphing them:

An hill giant and an ice dragon.
An emperor scorpion, a deep troll and an eye of devastation.
3 dragons and a giant orange brain.

I'm not sure it's such a good idea.

You can also use it on tiny monsters, so as to increase the xp. But that's a problem with monster generation.

I haven't tried but does it work with player ghosts ?
Given that I always have problems with them, it could be useful I think. Here's my suggestion for the list if it works and is okay to do.

Mid and low tier uniques, when the biggest danger is their equipment or wands. Without hands, they're much less of a threat. My personal favorite is the time I squished Blork the killer bee larva. XD

PROTIP: You can also Dispel Undead on them; it works because they drank vampire blood.

I got an acid blob the one time I did it on a very large one, which was great because that just went down quite quickly ... maybe not. I'll reduce it to normal-sized.

I did it on a rat once early on and got a boggart which annihilated me with summons, so results vary.

Assuming I was trapped or something and had no better options, I think I might actually prefer most of those to trying to take a titanic slime in melee range.

Although it is funny when you polymorph something in the slime pits and they take huge acid damage from the walls before getting to you regardless of what it turned into.

If you're a hill orc of Beogh, can you use polymorph on your orc followers to turn them into something else? And do they remain your allies if you do?

I'm not sure if you can do it yourself safely (I guess probably not) but I did have an orc sorcerer that got polymorphed by an enemy into a komodo dragon once. He was still able to cast spells and was pretty awesome overall.

The downside to ploymorphed orcs is they aren't effect by Beogh's recall, so you have to herd them around manually or pick up the spell.

As mentioned above, invisible horrors are excellent recipients of your mutagenic attentions. With uniques I've had such mixed results that I refrain anymore, though I'll do it to Grinder if the opportunity ever comes up.

Re: Uses for the wand of polymorph other

Here is a thought. Polymorph other does not seem to heal the creature. If you want to use it for xp farming, weaken the creature first then polymorph it. Whatever it turns into will at least be weaker.
