Killing Cerebov With Obsidian Axe

I am on Cerebov's Pan level wielding the obsidian axe. I can't seem to get close to his rune with blink so I think I might have to kill her. I can berserk with my boots and I have a wand of haste and a potion of strength. There is nothing on the level to un curse the axe. Should I try and fight her or give up on her rune?

Your best bet might be to (use Haste to) lure Cerebov out of position, then give him the runaround and sneak back for the rune?

Fighting him is hairy. Fighting him with the Obsidian Axe sounds very hairy...

Cerebov can haste himself. You'll have easier time if you throw everything you got at him before he does that.

But you don't have to kill him, though. So don't try to, if you aren't sure you can.

The problem with luring him away is the obsidian axe mesmerizes you and you can't run. It's the coolest item in the game but it's tricky in situations like this.

Yeah, I'd say your only option is to go in with overwhelming firepower and hope it works. Try and lure / kill away anything else in his castle, especially anything with torment or hellfire. Then, quaff your potion of might, summon some brothers in arms, buff up with Trog's hand, and charge in for the fight to death.

It's a tough call if you're better off 'zerking or using haste in this case. 'Zerk will give you higher damage output, and more hp, but haste will let you switch to the rod of demonology to abjure any tormenting fire fiends Cherberov summons. ...actually, nevermind. You weapons' cursed, and you're out of scrolls. 'Zerking is your best bet.
