Elixir didn't work

That was strange. First time it ever happened to me.
I usually keep Elixir stacked and use it as last resort. In this scenario (me vs a Hell Sentinel only) I used it and it didn't restore my HP or MP.

  Code:
The blast of hellfire engulfs the Hell Sentinel.
The Hell Sentinel completely resists.
Wield which item (- for none, * to show all)? (? for menu, Esc to quit)
Your +8,+8 great sword of holy wrath stops glowing.

The Hell Sentinel hits you but does no damage.

Everyone gets a base power of nine times their Evocations skill

legendary decks add 300

Legendary decks get one (power in 500) chance and one (power in 700) chance

Usually I go for at least 10 but it seems I'd forgotten to turn it on this time.

It looks like we need Evocations 22.3 to guarantee power 1 from legendary decks. That's pretty high :(

Just checked my last wins and they all have Evo at level 15 at least. I don't know why I was under the impression that legendary decks *guarantee* at least power 1.

Probably because most of the time you're following Nemelex when using decks and getting a piety boost alongside your Evocations boost to card power.

Only from random drops. Very rare, of course, but on average, there are one or two legendary decks (not always with Elixirs in them) in a 15-rune game.
I remember a game (not with Nemelex) when I had 4 legendary decks, with Elixir stacked in each.

IMHO,
Plain decks should rely heavily on Evocations to create power.
Legendary decks should be powerful on-draw at 0 Evocations, but can be enhanced greatly by evocations.

Legendary decks are powerful at 0 evocations. 3/7 and 3/5 chances to increase card power, that's about 25% to get power 2 effect.

Unless it was changed recently, using a scroll of ID on a deck tells you the next card. So even people not worshiping Nemelex can have a certain card queued up if you don't mind using several ID scrolls (that might come to waste if card isn't in deck) and drawing off all the ones you don't care for. So you can "stack" a deck w/out Nemelex's ability, you just can't stack it deeper than one card. On the other hand, if you are using for emergencies, you only really care about top card.

Yes, IDing a deck each time will reveal the next card. Since I usually don't play with Nemelex, I end up wasting a lot of ID scrolls on legendary decks, especially ones of Changes or Wonder.
