1. Training necro for the pain brand isn't really worth it if you're a follower of Fedhas.
2. Elec hurts.
3. AC+5 is pretty sweet.

I'd use the glaive of the Guard.

glaive of Plusoc may be best if you plan on wearing a Fire Dragon Armour.
glaive of the Guard looks best since your AC is suffering, and you can replace your Ring of Shadows with something better.
halberd "Mud Pie of Death" is most useful for the +Fly or perhaps against things like Ancient Lich, Orb of Fire, Greater Mummy, and other omniresistant enemies.

glaive of the guard is probably best, but 11 is a big plus and pain remains good through zot:5 so if you have any necro spells worth using (agony/regen/borg come to mind) I'd use Mud Pie of Death and get 20 necro. I may be also influenced by the name.

Yeah, the +8 glaive will do better against all of those omni-resistant (including pain-immune) enemies at pretty much any decent skill level.

I've been using Glaive of the Guard and its been working nicely. I had a feeling you guys would pick that one but I had to be sure.

Unfortunately I equip ID'd the Contaminated Glaive, so I had to wait off the contamination. I had rMut so no big deal and no mutations sustained.

Muts from Contam have 50% chance to bypass rMut (muts from Malmutate only havr 10% chance), I would probably read ?vulnerability if I had it.

I thought of vulnerability but I didn't have any. No matter though. I just died after going up a staircase with about 70% of my HP. On the turn I went up, Frederick Iron Shotted me the same time a Centaur Warrior shot me. I had 17HOP and was sandwiched between them. I had two options. Evoke my Heal Wounds wand or blink above the warrior. I figured the wand would be bad because Freddy could use any of his spells and almost certainly kill me even after the HP boost and if it didn't somehow, the arrow definitely would have. So I blinked above the warrior. He shot me and I died.

So pissed. This is the fourth MfIE I've splatted this late in the game and this is the first time I had access to Icestorm. Rage.

My condolences. Did you know about Frederick? It can be useful to put exclusions on stairs and !annotations for levels to trigger confirmation.

Yes and no.

I knew he was on that floor, but I didn't know he was standing right there. I knew he was awake and wandering. I know most Crawl players advocate running and I definitely see the wisdom in that, but I all to often ger killed by something I decided to leave alone.

Not that I should have been fighting Freddy anyway. Just unfortunate.

I see. You were unlucky. I have Quicksilver dragon on the floor with Orcish Mines entrance, I was lucky it didn't kill me when I entered Orcish Mines twice (second time for Elven Halls). Maybe it will kill me on ascending though :)

That's nuckin futs, dude. Did it see you? I can't imagine surviving an encounter with a Quicksilver Dragon seeing you that early, save for maybe popping a teleport scroll as soon as it entered los.

No, it didn't. I immediately retreated and ran to nearest downstairs as fast as I could. Stealth is the best skill sometimes.

Hahahaha, I can't take this ****ing game anymore. I just got another one going and I hit XL9. I found a ring of wizardry and a bookof the warp. Incredible. Then I find a shop selling unID'd gear, so I spend about 40 gold on a robe and cloak... which ended up being Archmagi and Preservation. Basically, I have the best start a character could possibly have. Not a minute later a centaur appears, its close so I move towards it. As soon as im in melee range, a horde of gnolls including a sergeant appear. If I ran, I die from arrows, if I stay, I die from reaching weapons. No tele or blink. I feel so angry squandering such a beautiful start but its funny and I have to laugh.
