My first time trying a Mummy for a while (after reading this thread) and I am having fun. I know condensation shield isn't great, but I figure I'd rather put my xp into something other than the shields skill and I have unlimited mana (with channeling) so I might as well try it out. What I don't like about it is the short duration and no message that it is about to wear off. It gives a higher shield value than the buckler I was using for a short time. The spellbook gifts I have gotten so far haven't been very useful. No oz's refrigeration yet but I did all of orc and almost done with the lair. Any advice?

Go to the Hive after you finish lair.
You should be fine to do Snake at around level 15 to 16 just run the hell away if you see Aizul.
Stay away from Elf it's a death trap and their fireballs will destroy your precious scrolls.
Train Air magic it will help you get your various cloud spells up to excellent and you're going to need repel missiles if you ever want to think about doing the Shoals.
You may want turn stealth back on to get it up another level or two.

What other spells do you have access to?
If you have access then branching out into necromancy for Dispel Undead and Sublimation of Blood is definitely worthwhile.
Mephitic cloud would also be very useful if you can find it.
Condensation shield isn't bad but it uses up valuable spell slots and you run the risk of it wearing out during combat. You'll probably want to drop it just to make room for more spells pretty soon.

He's doing rather well, probably thanks to the RNG for not screwing him up. :)

MuFi is really damn cool, me thinks. I don't know why exactly. :D

You don't get to quaff potions, so yeah it's rough. If I see a Wand of Healing in a shop, I'll surely buy it even if it costs me 10000 gold or something. :D

Lucky me I got that Leather Armor of Fire Resistance. :D

And the new Okawaru is nice, actually. Heroism makes you worry less when your hybrid fighter-mage trains magic skills. :)

(Dang, I kept forgetting I had Summon Butterflies....)

I wrote a ridiculously long-winded Mummy Wizard guide for the wiki.

Apropos of this thread, Kiku is a fantastic deity for Mummies because a. he gives you the important spells of the only school of magic you're actually good at and b. he is ridiculously easy to kick. Once you get the Necronomicon from him, you're already at the ET with a lot of piety. Use Corpse Delivery and Twisted Resurrection to fill it with Abominations and you can pretty much wait him out. If you're really paranoid, you could grab a Ring of Sustain Abilities before you do so, but you'll normally heal stat drain before he stacks it.

This also works as a scumming technique, (rejoin, quit again, Insert 99 Shift-5, do work, click back into DCSS, abominations kill creatures, repeat). Kiku throws real monsters at you, not summons, and as such they're worth XP.

After you've done this as much as you want, Sif Muna is waiting for you. Haunt + Channel Energy FTW.

Oh gosh, that's the best mental image ever: A newly arisen mummy not realizing he can't blow his arm out, accidentally catching his head on fire in the process and stumbling around on fire and flailing. :lol:
The green ugly thing basks in the mutagenic energy from your post and changes!
