The Tavern

This is the thread for the adventures of TavernSnacksOfOpportunity, the casual tournament clan for 0.29.

Members so far are me, floatboth, andrew and Strat, plus one currently reserved space which may become free.

So there is one place available. The clan is for people who would like to be part of a team without feeling any need to play a given amount, win a given amount etc. etc. We mainly just play and post about our games here.

Tavern is very sleepy nowadays so I don't massively anticipate anyone else wanting in. I've not heard from sanka but their place will stay reserved in case they fancy it.

I have peaked too early by winning a DsNe of Sif Muna earlier today (I posted about it in YASD).

I may have done the same; I won a Cheibriados character last week for the first time in my life. But it's training I guess?

Started my FeDe before it was chosen for Nemelex' Choice, so don't know if it will count for that category. Mostly through Lair with all lives intact, using summons with a bit of stabby and Uskayaw aid is working so far.

I have started my first game before I put your name as teamcaptain into my RC file. Now I am not a member of the team: do you think it will change or I missed my chance?

(I thought I did put in the line, but I have checked and it was not there. I have added it this morning.)

You're not showing up as a member. I guess when you finish that game it might kick in? It's a couple of hours ago you posted, I think your name ought to be showing by now.

Another option would be to edit your rc file on another server and play there.

I am showing now, so my embarrasing deaths are visible to any clan member.

Starting out with a GrHu^Gozag. Question about new ranged: does berserking still disable ranged attacks? (The answer might inform future Potion Petition choices.)

Not tried it but I'd assume so, given Trog is now completely disconnected from ranged.

Meteoran delver is not very streak friendly start. Meteorans glow, so stealth does not work well. Took me countless trials to reach Lair. But once I was there, I won!

I was lucky to find this:


I immediately trained polearms to 9 (I was with Okawaru), and the trident was good enough to kill everything till I got blade hands online. I very soon had storm form online as well. (Of course just when I finnaly got storm form I found the glaive of the guard, in an orc shop. But I did not buy it.) From then the game was mostly easy: storm form kills everything. I used dragon form against orbs of fire.

Way to go, Sanka -- I briefly tried a Meteoran (not a delver) for the first time and was promptly squashed, and I can imagine that a delver would be even worse.

Great stuff both of you. Think I'll try a Meteoran, why not.

Given that I got a warning before switching to a ranged weapon while berserk, I'm guessing Moanerette is right about that. Glad some of you are winning!

So my laptop picked a great time to break...

And the delivery company picked a great time to mess up delivering the replacement hard drive so badly that no one now knows where it is.

I hope I'll be able to play again this tourney but really don't know. I am not going to try playing on my phone, it's fiddly enough just making a forum post.

That's too bad. Maybe we need a corporate sponsor for next time.

What a bummer, Moanerette -- sorry to hear that, and I hope you get the situation resolved soon.

Well, that is it for me this time - no streak again. I had a health emergency which both gave me more time play but even less focus than usual. The game continues to get harder for me, given that I have never been a very adaptable player and tend to just bull forward. Thanks once again to the clan - it really is becoming a tradition for me to play with the Tavern Snacks!

I have never won another game, sorry for bad performance. I did have some painful deaths, once in Abyss with two runes while going for the Lord of Darkness 3 banner (and I almost got the third).

Sorry I didn't get a win; I'm getting worse at this game I think? Lost two characters in Vaults, one from not knowing what to expect from Zenata. (Didn't help either that today's attempt at getting an Inheritor banner landed me with a DjIE^Trog.) Pleasure playing with you all as usual, anyway, and thanks to Moanerette for organizing!

That was frustrating for me, but I'm glad you all had fun, and I hope your health is on the mend Strat.

Hopefully I'll get a proper run at the next one.
