See announcement for tournament details. Feel free to coordinate teams in this thread or discuss any problems you notice with the rules.

I have discovered that this tournament overlaps w/ the Pokemon Sun and Moon release date (11/18). Strongly suggest you reconsider.

I'm interested in joining any relatively casual clan that wouldn't mind me just playing a bunch of wanderers :)

The tournament scoreboard link is broken for me. Where can I see nemelex choice options?

The tournament hasn't started yet. When it does, you'll see the Nemelex Choice on the overview page you linked. It'll be selected from combos with < 23 online wins.

I was thinking of captaining a (very casual) clan this time around; if anyone wants in, you can PM me.

I've never played in a tournament before but I'd be interested to try joining a clan, though I'm not sure about the technicalities of it all. Also, I'm rather terrible at the game :P does that mean I could "ruin" things for other people on the same team in some way?

Nah, you can't "ruin" things for others in the clan, except for clans working towards some goal(which mine is not).
Instructions how to join a clan can be found here, but, in short, to join my clan, you need to:
#1 Write
  Code:
# TEAMCAPTAIN dracos369
at the very beginning of your rc file(which you access using edit rc option)
#2 Let me know what your username with which you play is, so I can add you to the clan(if there is space ofc)

The clan's name is NecroTech Inc, btw.

I'd love to join, my username is the same as here "Dioneo" - I play on CUE; let me know if there's room and I'll add it to my rc once the tournament starts.

Hey, I play on CUE too :)
Yes, there is still room(with you in, two more spots remaining), so you're welcome to join. You don't have to wait for tourney to start, though.

I'll try here first and maybe avoid making a thread, although if no one answers I might get desperate enough later on! Two slots left on my team: "When lesser beckoning goes horribly wrong"! We're not planning on being super competitive, I'd like it if you can get a win or two, but we aren't really organizing combos or aiming for any specific goals. I'll probably continue to play way too many Chei games, as usual.

I don't show up on the clan list yet.

Maybe there's some lag... The page I see only shows three in the clan at the moment.

I play as loopi.

I'm not clear if we need to be on the clan list before starting a game, or can it be caught up later? It's still not showing those of us who were supposed to be added recently in NecroTech.

Also how do you edit the rc file on CPO?

It says you "can download the current file," but when I do that I just get a text file that says "null."

Anyway started playing on CAO, although it doesn't show me as part of the clan yet.

I do have the teamcaptain thing in my rc file there. I went back and capitalized it and space it away from the #, if that matters...

Join the clan: Trog says Kill them all
http://dobrazupa.org/tournament/0.19/cl ... gon99.html

I don't care if you are a great player or have never won. I'm looking for people willing to put time in this and have some goals.

My personal goals are to:

1. Win at least one game (my current MiBe has a good chance, I think).
2. Collect all the banners (this will be a challenge, but I'm off to a good start).
3. Play for at least three hours a day (on average; hopefully more).

PM me if interested.

Thanks!

Yay got my level 1 Speed Demon (thanks especially to a nice axe).

Question: Under team scoring, what are the points for "gkill" representing, as opposed to ghost kills?

I searched the rules page but didn't see anywhere it referred to that specific abbreviation.

it is in clan points section
N clan points per ghost kill after dying, where N is the dying character's XL minus 5. (No points are awarded if the dying character is XL 5 or lower.)

That makes sense now.

I didn't know what I was looking up at the time, so I just searched for "gkill" which is all it appears as on the clan score sheet. That didn't find anything.

Eyesburn wrote:I won one game with Okawaru but he is not listed in my stats, why?

You have to become the Champion of your god. You never reached ****** piety under Okawaru (it would be in the notes in your morgue).

tournament rules wrote:For purposes of these points we say that a player wins with a god if she reaches full (******) piety with that god without worshipping any other god first. Two gods (Gozag and Xom) do not have the usual ****** piety system; to get the points for these gods, you must never worship another god during the game. For "No God", you must never worship a god.

yeah , did read that rule, but I thought that I got full piety at some moment

don't try to get a tour win with sif either, it's a giant trap

even if you don't touch the ab tap at all (the only thing other than time that drains piety...) it's extremely hard to hit 6* piety

Just to congratulate my team for winning the #1. :)
And to thank Charly for inviting me tho Im not so good player.
Managed to get Nature's Ally III banner for the first time, and was trying to get Ascetic III but with no luck (also managed to lost characters with 15 and 13 runes).

I'll second stoneychips -- thanks to dracos for setting up the clan. I had fun (though I came close to a Nem's Choice for once, then missed because I ran out of time at the end of the tourney -- disappointment about that led to a quick splat of the character ...). Thanks also to the tournament organizers and devs -- I'm a poor player but I enjoy the tourney nonetheless.

I guess I'll have to third stoneychips in thanking dracos! I sadly didn't manage to play in the last few days of the tournament, but at least I managed to snag the first win for our team, which was admittedly the least impressive as well :P

Oh you guys were great and I enjoyed just peeking at how everything was going on the clan page too.

But this... 11 runes! You got 11 runes one game. "A poor player"?? Where is this button that controls scaling of standards with abilities... :o

Aww, you're welcome! Really, thank you guys for participating in it. We had a good run. I really can't forgive myself for loosing some really promising chars (Vow of courage III achieving GrEE due to LRDing myself in Depths, TrBe whose first found item was a cursed  Storm Dragon Scales due to Paralisys in Orc, and a really promising MfCK in Zot:5 due to... well, Xom. "Hahahaha, screw you and your tactics: here, let me blink you in between those two ancient liches and summon a bunch of hostile demons around you so you can't escape!" That last one was a high score, so silver linings...). But yeah, it was fun and I'd like to thank everyone who made this possible.

@stoneychips, number of runes doesn't really matter all that much, since the hardest runes are your 1st and 3rd runes anyway. Like, I collected all 15 runes in one game as well as cleared a Zig(almost died, but had what was probably the luckiest combination of a cursed equipment I wouldn't normally wear and banishment), but I'm definitely still a worse player than Strat(see: all those splats mentioned earlier; also, winrate). I'll probably concede that he's being too humble; he's mediocre at worst :P

I dunno. I still feel like it takes either a good deal of skill or a whopping collection of resistances to do well in collecting many runes. Heck, I had this lovely character until I realized it had hardly any fire resistance to deal with Zot. Eek.

I've gotten 15 runes once and I don't think I'm "very" excellent generally by any means. If anything, i can occasionally be lucky (drops) and monotonously cautious enough long enough not to splat for the usual silly reasons. But I do think it takes some bit of excellence to get that far also, as some crazy things usually pop up sooner or later to test your knowledge or wits or (over)confidence or something frequently fatal. Imo.

id also like to thank all devs, tournament organizers, vault/game designers etc - and my awesome teammates for this great tournament and all the different contributions - motivation on our team was great like mid-tournament. It was quite fun for me trying for top places this time due to a partly lucky streak

a thing which is a bit stale imo, that you can hardly earn points through normal play in the end, as even nemelex choice's 75 pts get scaled down to <20 afaik
trying those berserker's realtime speedruns then was fun for some, but not all.

probably also a reason why #3 and #4 clan didnt try anymore in the end. there was barely any competition left then

congratz to charly's clan, we didnt stand a chance in the end to get near their insane scoring.
