I made some progress with the OgHu^Dith on Lantea-0.16. Cleared in a breeze vaults where I found a shadow dragon hide. Probably it wasn't the most optimal armour but heck that build called to enchant it so now he's using a +6 ShDA. After that cleared also Depths up 4. Very easy job, I hope somebody is going to ascend him, the only thing now missing is a rf+ source and eventually a stick of haste (I acquired a wand of cold :\)

I started a DsGl of makhleb on cszo...got icy envelope and level 2 black scales right away, so we've already got great AC. Also have extra regen from kills, so no need to rest.

Someone left NaCK^Trog with 2 runes on U:1, tried it, took sliver and slimy rune, then went for the Orb, there were some nasty pan lords in the Zot, but all went good, managed to escape. Thanks to Zwobot and Kramin for helping.

Isn't casting spells 33% faster and ability to run away better/safer? I would hate to have adjacent monsters to me when I am out of MP, have no weapon skill and cannot run away.

Died berserking gloorx. Despite having augmentation and an elec dtrident i guess I didn't do enough damage. 1h weapons - just say no. This works all the time on XL23-ish MiBes with a medicore exec axe.

I do not recall a game where every enemy died before it reached me in melee. I am aware that casting stoneskin and statue form costs 9 MP and I probably would not try this on anything else than DE of Sif Muna. This guy does not run out of mana unless played carelessly. Eventually, the form can be left if escape is advisable.

What kills in 99.9% cases is a lack of HP. Looking at DE's HP pool, they are almost dead by default. Pre-vaults there is plenty of enemies capable of dealing 20 damage, but not 60, which means that 37AC + some EV grants almost invincibility. Do not forget of +30% HP on top. Tell me, what has greater chances to survive a hydra next to the staircase, this DE with or without statue form?

Lastly, I did not use statue form all the time. Let me name few cases where it is/was absolutely superior:
- spiny frogs / mambas. They are too fast to exterminate in range, furthermore easily missed by stone arrow. rPois + AC reduces the threat to 0.
- any other monster dealing poisoning attacks. Character does not have rPois from items yet.
- Spiders. There is no solution to moths of wrath yet, but at least the guy will survive webbing. 7AC + 5 str + no evasion otherwise? good luck.
- enemy in melee range. Orc warrior can go through 80HPs + 7 AC in three attacks. With statue form, you can eat two rations, learn a new spell and clear your inventory before you start fighting him. Maybe one regeneration would be helpful.

Bart,

I see how SF can be useful vs fast monsters or when you use stairs and find adjacent monsters of course. I just wouldn't use the spell vs normal speed monster (or vs slightly faster monsters when I have Haste at 1%). It is much safer to run away, channel mana and return back than to use SF. Still channeling mana instead of training some good weapon (no electro/draining found yet?) seems weird but I guess this is what you call trademark.

It's time to make a new prediction!

The comborobin account was set up exactly 3 weeks ago, and so far it has 44 wins, but only 42 for the purpose of the project. That is exactly 2 wins per day, awesome. I think this rate is insanely good, and it means that 600 wins will require 300 days (10 months). The project may end in mid-March, 2016. But of course the speed may increase and decrease, according to the circumstances.

OpTm of Ely on CDO. Good equipment, has wand of hasting, hydra form online and book with dragon form. No statue form, repel missiles or Ozo armour yet. I have parked it at entrance to wizlab, up to you if you want to do it or not. No runes yet.

I'm not sure about the skill one, since there are not a few titles that have the species as part of them. I doubt there will be a Spriggan Barricade, for example (please prove me wrong).

I left a VSBe in lair in CSZO 0.16. It's got the armour of the dragon king, and a +9 quickblade (antimagic so you may not want to use it until you find a scroll of brand weapon). This is a pretty good character for newer players to pick up.

Sphara played it, then I took over and finished, really nice char. :) Didn't play caster^Vehumet for some time, enjoyed his increased spells range :) tho this naga was capable for good melee with speed laja and good defences (+Ozo's armour +Phase Shift).
