Really messy DEHu going in CXC trunk. Struggled the early levels with that shitty starting bow and +0 dagger of venom. Near-death battles on every level. Hill giant on D:5. Ugly thing and a player ghost on D:6.

I went Vehumet coz i found it before the temple and kept struggling. Gave me sandblast so I branched into earth. Got kills and Vehu piety started to take off. Started to look nice. Erica and Gastro on D:8. So I had to retreat from there too even though I managed to explore most of the level.

Now I'm on D:9 where are only two ways to go down: one stairs that have an awake hill giant waiting and one escape hatch. I have nothing to deal with the giant except one fear scroll. And especially now that I know I'm gonna get a head-whomp the second i go down those stairs again, berserk potion or lignification aren't good options. I would have fought it if I had known, there REALLY are no other ways to go down but the escape hatch.

Again I don't know if this is a bug or 'an interesting challenge'. Been sending too many stupid bug reports in the past months.

I'd say escape hatch cant be worse than a primed Hill Giant. Sounds like a fun game though!

Found +9 randart ice dragon armor on OgAK pre lair. I either got shafted or had to escape to uncharted territory. Died not long after finally getting gsc and the armour. Fun game for sure.

Ok. DEHu is now played at the point where full spellpower sandblast and ice spells kill everything. And even loot started to look decent. I mean MR ring and MR leather is good, right? But nothing very good showed up before the Lair. Bows can pretty much be forgotten since this guys shortbow is laughably underpowered compared to his/hers spells.

One of the hardest starts i've ever had. Considering the loot and the low HP of deep elf: no books, mediocre jewellry, no melee weapon outside dagger of venom.

And one thing I should mention: I did underestimate the power of stone-sandblasts ONCE AGAIN.

Someone make this a winner. Well at least clearing the Lair should be as easy as getting an earlygame DEHu killled.

The point of shafting yourself through depths and zot is that it makes the orbrun actually interesting.

Meanwhile I've parked a MiAr on lantea trunk. An early trident of pain and ash altar made me a necro hybrid in plate. Some very good items by far (a +6 bardiche of pain and dat ring!!) but I haven't still found a good body armour to enchant... but that isn't a real issue as defences are kinda solid nevertheless and there are few ?ea left.

MiAr was won like last week. I like to check the comborobin scoring page occasionally to make combos sure haven't been won.

Maybe there ought to be some lua or irc script that does this kind of checking for you.

Not sure what has changed, but until yesterday, if there were two or more comborobin accounts playing simultaneously (e.g., one on git, one on 0.16), I could spectate either one. As of yesterday, clicking on either of the active accounts always takes me just to the .16 game. I am unable to spectate the git game. Anyone else experiencing this?

Was looking over the top players list (http://crawl.akrasiac.org/scoring/best- ... score.html), and figured it was notable that comborobin is now the 88th highest scoring account. High score isn't the best metric to rank skill by (it rewards just playing a lot, of course), but for an account that's only 2 months old to rise so fast is pretty cool. Obviously due to a lot of people playing the account, but hey, go team

Octopodes are downright fun, no surprise there. You can do a lot of customization of your stats once you have 15+ decent rings, and tailor the character to have the properties you like. Getting there is a long haul, but it gives you a real sense of progress as your rings continuously improve. I've been inactive for a while on comborobin but I think I'll get back into it soon, see if I can't boost our transmuter numbers

I got a VpTm^kiku with a GS ammy and animate skelliton to lair on CBRO. Ice form is at 28% fail, I would like it a little lower. Trying to balance UC+transmute+Spellcasting+necro+dodging is going to be fun.

EDIT: Please clear macros before logging out! Someone had bound the , key to za. I actually use the , key to pick up items. This was highly confusing and annoying.

Bit of advice to the person who killed off the KoAK. When engaging Nikola, equip the rElec necklace first (were you the one who purchased it in the bazaar?). Hit him with curare next (you can unwield that QB of distortion). Hit him with lamp of fire (9.6 evo), then use Lugonu abilities if needed. Don't try to hit him with a 9% success hex. Victory.

It was me, I am sorry. So there's 4 duplications plus 2 SE wins, which means that the 187 wins are actually only 181. I see now.
How do we know the number of possible combos?

There are a couple other racial/background combos that are forbidden, at least Felid's can't be Gl, Hu or AS. I'm not actually sure if there are more than that -3 more = 618

I left a FoWz parked on lair:3 on cszo. He's kind of weak, so I have some advice on how to not die in lair with him.

• Don't try just tabbing any black mambas or spiny frogs with the demon trident. Use the trick for how to get the mambas/frogs to walk into conjure flame even in an open area. If you don't know this trick: cover the three squares adjacent to you on the side closest to the mamba/frog. You have to start doing this long before he reaches you.
• I just picked up Throw Icicle because Veh offered, but it's weak so don't rely on it. You can only cast it because of wizardry + veh.

I started a VpEn as comborobin today. Got ammy of regen, ring of stealth. Then I find AUTUMN F***ING KATANA on D7. Then I find a LIGHTNING ROD in ossuary. Then the deep elf vault with +1 hat of invis and book of minor magic.

I get to Lair, need to make a sandwich.

This may have been the most winnable character I ever saw on Lair 1. I am pretty psyched. Really no way to die. Lighting rod + wand of cold will handle hydra so I don't have to risk confuse stabbing or shadow stepping. Hexes are at 12, hibernation or confuse at 75% or higher on most stuff. Dazzling spray good to go too. RMSL up, Blink up.

Log back in, someone is playing. I mention I was playing them and ask how they like the katana.

They run around hitting shit casting no spells, run into a 7-headed hydra. They try to shadow step to it, fine. Then they stab it with the katana like a moron.

Now they are at 22 hits with a 7 headed hydra in their face and stairs in blink range.

I say "stabbing with a long blade"

They say "oh and you had a dagger"

I say "yes"

I say "You have to blink"

Long pause.

They read fear.

Die.

"Why did you read fear when you had blink"

"I thought fear would work"
