Dejavu not found

I used git to compile crawl. It works fine when I run it from source directory. But if I try to download trunk version from site and then just replace the executable, it complaints about missing contrib/fonts/DejavuSansMono.ttf.
I tried copying the whole contrib directory and it broke many tiles (for example, potions are displayed as some weird shields).
What should I do to create an executable compatible with executable from trunk distribution which does not even have contrib folder?

I am trying 'make install TILES=y DESTDIR=./DIST' now. Hopefully it will solve the problem.

Never mind. make install worked fine.
