Modding DCSS?

I've been a fan of Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup for a while now, and I've wanted to try modding the game. However, I'm not really sure where to start. Are there any guides or tutorials on modding the game?

I haven't seen any tutorials, but there's plenty of people who have done so (it's an open source game so you can download the source and make whatever changes you want) what kind of mods were you thinking of doing? People here and ##crawl-dev can probably point you in the right direction at least...

Download the source code and read INSTALL.txt.
If you are on windows, I recommend you use the msysgit method for compiling and NOT the cygwin method.
